Dream thingumajig.
May. 6th, 2009 10:12 pmVague uncertain dream, running in the some surprisingly even forested mountainous area, sometimes climbing, sometimes along ropes. Found a not-well-hidden cavern with a cobwebby-but-not-spidery dead body on a stone throne, and touched it. Blue sparkly stuff on my hand. Fall though an opening to find some box that the blue stuff causes to open. What's in it? A scene change!
I'm by myself, in a very tiny fortress: it has a stone outer wall and a building on the inside big enough for a kitchen. Maybe. Maybe there's a downstairs, maybe it's bigger on the inside, I dunno. I'm attempting to take the place for myself from the defenders inside, and defending it against some really big guys outside who aren't on the same side as the defenders, and yet somehow I'm the biggest threat.
I manage to put together a dream-reasonable weapon and fend off the invaders while driving out the defenders - how, I have no idea. I really should not have been able to do that, as I am fairly normal me this whole time - and then everything glows gold for a few seconds and I have to do it all again. Apparently on hard mode or something, because the big guys are now twenty feet tall, and the defenders have laser-guided mini-missile launchers. Which they aim through arrow slits.
I soon find a safe spot from the defenders inside, but one of the giants got inside and knocks me around a bit before raising a big mace to smack me with. I sort of put it all on hold for a second, think to myself "Screw that, it's my dream, I am not going out like this" and start pulling out abilities from videogames and tabletop rpgs and some other places.
Things are looking much better for me now, (and far more expensive-looking special-effects-wise) and I manage to drive off the giants and turn my attention to the defenders before I wake up.
First thing I said: "Aw man, it was just getting going, too."
After a few minutes, though, I realized something else. This is the first dream I've had in months that didn't feel like a bad dream or a nightmare somehow. I feel...hopeful. For once.
