The first setting was a High-school one. It wasn't the HS I went to, or any I recognized. I don't even know why I was there, actually. I wasn't a student or a teacher. I went into some small room, and started concentrating. There was a rushing sensation, without the feeling of rushing...and then I was a girl, sitting in a class. I was doing a sort of possession thing, for reasons unknown to me. It was the first day of school, and "my" first day of high school. I recognized "my" name, and the names of classmates. Beyond that, though, I knew my way around, though I had to try to be a bit lost. I was mostly acting like the girl did, but felt I wasn't getting everything quite right. After a class or two, there was home economics class. This consisted of the entire class being taken to a cafeteria where we were being shown around, where all the foods were, what would be expected of us by the year's end. We would be cooking for this place, which wasn't the school cafeteria, but some sort of side project for increasing the school funds; sort of a year-long bake sale. It wasn't expected that most of us would be able to do more than make a half-biscuit at first in the allotted time for us, but a few might be so lucky as producing hell ramen in a month or two. The first semester's course lessons would be focusing on pastamancery, but due to some unmentioned reason, we wouldn't be starting actual lessons in this class until tomorrow.
Later, after being shown where the pool was for gym class, there was the locker rooms. At the end of the day, I still hadn't been given a locker or key (why a key instead of combination locks?) so I had to come back after classes and talk to the guy in charge, asking for a locker assignment. He and some other person I didn't recognize gave me a locker number and key, wrote it down, but instead of calling me by the name of the girl, called me by my actual name! After asking what they meant, the other guy said he knew who I was, and what I was doing, but wouldn't interfere. I still don't know what he meant by that. After everything else was cleared up, I suddenly started wondering how my regular body was doing, and was a bit distracted when a tall shady guy came around the corner, talking to me (by the girl's name) in a very cold tone. I instinctively kicked out, and caught the guy right in the crotch. As he fell over, I recognized myself, and realized the girl must have finally been able to start moving my own body. I began to concentrate again, to switch back and spare the girl some pain (I didn't realize I looked that creepy from the outside, though I knew my voice tone control in my own body was poor) when the focus shifted.
Working in a grocery store of immense size. Moving food around, but something seemed odd. After a while, it came out that someone had been murdered, and we needed to find the body somewhere in the store, as well as the murderer. Who was still in the store, likely a coworker. Amazingly, no one panicked or questioned this. Much searching was made in a suspiciously empty back room, which had more generic clutter than anything else. After sometime, a cage crashed down from a shelf above, which had a tiny creature in it, a lot like the Mogwai thing from the Gremlins movies. Except it was more...unusual. It was like interacting with a CG thing, it could leave its lips in place if you moved it a few feet away. It changed from things resembling a furby to a little puffball with eyeballs and ears, and started getting bigger. After it started wrecking bits of the back of the store, someone who'd met such things before starting twisting bits of it, and it began to look like a polygon-model of something poorly-thought out. It did start to shrink, though. After it eventually sort of powdered and led itself down a drain, we found a chopped up body in a broom closet, and eventually the store manager was found out to be the killer. He got away into the fog outside the building. The other survivor and myself (what happened to all the others? No idea. I think the fog ate one of them.) eventually began to be attacked by some things that looked like old logs covered in vines. Despite him having an ax (or because of it?) he couldn't fight them off, and was skeletonized (in a cheesy CG-sequence no less. Who's funding my dreams?) as I was making my escape through a different door.
Everything began to shift as I moved through the increasingly-improbably-sized store. Some people were human, others were green-skinned plant people, sometimes the same person would shift as I moved. I knew if I picked an isle and went down it, things would stay the same, but I kept moving along them instead, feeling like I was in danger. It felt mazelike, even though I was going in a straight line. There were things in some variations of the store, some of which were people, others were not. Leaving the store was important, but dangerous, as was buying anything.
After a while, I made it outside, but it was in a desert community, and I'd need to cross the desert. Somehow, we had to find our way back into the store and get some supplies. I knew somehow that was hopeless (because the next time we came out, it wouldn't necessarily be the same place as this) but there was no other choice. (Hold on. When did I get companions, and who are they?) We made it back in. And it wasn't a store anymore, no; the place was now a huge room with with puzzle-looking traps. This particular area (we could see several others, but only reach this one. Some kind of field or plexiglass walls?) had breakaway floor sections, and tubes going down to unknown fates...each spot had a letter set on it. A-E, T-G, F, C-N, Q-O, and two I didn't see. Some sort of lasers began moving from each of the walls to the center, with no way around them or out, except to pick a hole and jump on it so we'd fall through the tube below it. With no clue guide us, I picked the A-E hole, and jumped up.
I woke up before I started falling through, though.
