It all started Labor Day weekend, when my granddad died. Then my dad and I flew out there to Oklahoma the very next day and met with my aunt. The rest of that day and the next two days, my purpose of existence was primarily moral support to the three people I could recognize on sight and the several other people who are distant relatives of mine who I didn't at all know these days.

Moral support, by the way, consists mostly of me "being there" and giving emotionally overcome people hugs. And otherwise feeling pretty useless, since there's not much I can do of any use around the place.

On Wednesday, the funeral takes place. More moral support, but soon my aunt, my dad, and myself will be going through my grandparent's house to decide what will be kept by those concerned and what will be sold or thrown away. And the moral support. The house-mostly-cleaning-out takes six days and some migraine relief. I get a unused little desk fan out of it, and find out my cell phone gets reception out there.

On Thursday morning, the week after the funeral (which was a decent one, actually, military honors, a flag and -gun salute and such,) the three of us take a U-Haul truck and put ourselves (in the cab) and certain "kept" items (in the back) and drive back to here. Many frayed nerves and unpleasantness follow. We finally get here - around 4 am Saturday morning local time, which is roughly five hours earlier than expected - to find my sister and her children all asleep in the house to surprise us when we get there. Seeing as we drove straight though, and got little to no sleep, we don't need the surprise and full house and hyperactive little people underfoot, we need several hours of sleep followed by emptying a truck.

We don't get more than about three hours of sleep. But truck-emptying takes place with all potential help watching children instead.

Long story short, I need a vacation from my relatives. And then to figure out what I was doing before this happened.
