I am playing a mini-game within World of Warcraft now.

"How high can my lag (latency) go without disconnecting?"

My record so far is 7893ms.

I'm thinking that, until I manage to get high-speed, I'll be sticking to Runescape and maybe even Maple Story....after this week is over, at least.

Oh, I'm impressed enough that I'll be back. ...Once I figure out how to get a high-speed connection here. I'm looking into some new sattelite options.

Everybody's having lag problems. Today, there's a huge thread in the forums where people (so far as I could tell from the first three pages, after which I lost interest) whine and bitch about their connection woes.

"I'm paying Blizzard how much a month, and they can't fix this??? I want my money back, waaaaaaaaah!!!"

I can understand being a little upset at not being able to access a paid service, but...have some sense of perspective, people!

a) It's a GAME. There are countless other things you could do to relax; if WoW is your only solace in life...my advice is to READ a BOOK. For ONCE.

b) Blizzard IS working on it; wouldn't you rather they spend their time fixing the problem, rather than reassuring your pitter-pattering heart that they are fixing it?

c) Reality check: You cannot make a system infallible by throwing enough money at it. No matter how much money you throw. Shit. Will. Happen. You name an MMORPG, there WILL have been problems with it, and there will CONTINUE to be problems with it. Nothing can be made perfect; you only try to make something "good enough."

Sheesh.

In fairness, this is all quite true. I have noproblem with Blizzard, or World of Warcraft. What I have a problem with is that my connection is being 28.8k. Not 56k, 28.8k. Max.

It's notthe ISP's fault, either. I live in the middle of nowhere. It's almost two miles just to my mailbox, and the phone line is far more than the threepointfive recommended for a 56k line. I'm pretty lucky to have a connection at all, actually, I'm just unfocusedly annoyed that I can't play WoW. I have other games, stories, and imaginings with which to use the free time I've got.

Awww...*hugs* I know how it is to be without internet; I had a week's hiatus in my connection until I could get wirelessly hooked in to a housemate's highspeed connection.

Oh, that's QotD material right there. Unfortunately, I say this a day late, so it would have to be QotY.

So far I'm Lillyth on Cenarious (to play with Moriarty) and Taleah on Earthen Ring (to play with like, 3 peeps). Anyone else want me to start a new char on their server? ;)

P.S. - Good news and bad news. My brother's dad died, but we now have a new PC and WoW. New PC rocks. Funerals don't. Viewings are just plain creepy. That is all.
