Other than that, I've come to a realization. I've liked to describe myself using a passage from The Last Unicorn, just before they entered the town of Hagsgate. Schmendrick said, "I am no man. I'm a magician with no magic, and that is no one at all."

A magician (or wizard, sorcerer, etc.) would be someone who has things they want to do, something to accomplish, and the tool of choice is magic. A magician with no magic has things to do, will to use, and no way to do what they want.

Over the last few years, completing recently, something nasty has happened to me. I noticed the power I have. Almost like the powder between the bullet and the casing.

I'm not a magician with no magic, I'm magic with no magician. I could do anything, but there's nothing I want to do...

First, let us get the obligatory "Whee! You posted again!" treatment out of the way. With that behind us, I'd like to say that I know what it is like to be without a big Will in the world: I spent most of high school that way. I didn't grow out of it, either! I just attempted to do something I wanted to do, and found that I could not do it to my satisfaction. (Stupid art! XO ) Perhaps it was because nothing challenged me that I felt, well, unchallenged. A system without input just sits there, after all. Of course, I'm not saying something as crass as "you should get a hobby", but rather that you should hang in there because you don't know what you're going to do next, kind of a like Dick Tracy. In fact, yes, you are your own Dick Tracy. We're all our own Dick Tracy, except most of us don't understand our own motivations.
